Dietetic Internship: Mission and Goals

Mission Statement

To graduate knowledgeable, competent, generalist dietetic professionals who will practice within the community and utilize community resources effectively.

Goals and Outcome Measures

1. To graduate highly motivated, competent entry level, generalist dietitians.

A. Ninety percent of the interns admitted to the DI will complete the program.

B. Interns will achieve an average of 80 percent or higher on all assignments, projects and rotation evaluations.

C. Eighty percent of the graduates will successfully pass the registration exam on the first try.

D. Within six months of graduation, 75 percent of the graduates will be employed in the dietetics field.

2. To retain/employ graduates in the tri-state dietetic community.

A. Interns will achieve an average of 80 percent or higher on rotation evaluations.        

B.Within six months of graduation, 15 percent of the graduates will be employed by internship rotation sites.

3. To prepare graduates to utilize community resources effectively.

A. Eighty percent of the graduates will indicate that they successfully (3 or better) utilize food, nutrition, and social services in the community.

B. Eighty percent of the employers surveyed will indicate that they successfully (3 or better) utilize food, nutrition, and social service resources in the community.
